You think that's a little steep?
Prelude:
So the other day I was at lunch with my friend. Catching up. I was talking to her about my training rates.
--It’s okay if you’re reading this and haven’t found it in you to make the commitment yet. I’m glad you’re here to read this. And this really goes for anyone looking to train with me or any other trainer. I’m not writing about this to drive you to invest in me particularly as your trainer. I just want this to set in for when you decide to finally make that decision to begin investing in YOU!
You can easily go to my page where it lists my rates and your opportunities to get on the right track to see what it is….
Back to my lunch conversation
“You think that’s a little steep?” she asks me.
“No” was my answer.
Now, here’s my story. And I’m st-st-stickin’ to it:
I continued with explaining VALUE. Us as women decide what our priorities are. And we have a lot of them to list out from A-Z what they should be. Hair appointments, nails, outfits, shoes, accessories, a nice vehicle to drive… The materialistic list can go on and on. I get it- I’m in the same boat as wanting to keep myself as a well put together mom and female. That’s what it is- otherwise we wouldn’t care so don’t say “that’s not me- I’m not materialistic” ya, you are. I am and I’m not here to lie to myself about it. I LIKE TO HAVE NICE THINGS. Period. And nicer things come in pricier packages- right? Right.
K, so what happens when you want to invest in your health? I don’t think people find a true connection with fitness, getting into the gym, and their overall HEALTH. I didn’t get it at first when I started working out. I had no clue about this connection until I got deeper and deeper into it with my interest in learning more about this “lifestyle”. And you know what even started this whole journey of mine??
INVESTING IN MYSELF!
I made the decision to start with a personal trainer and threw down $300+ for personal training every 3-4 weeks for 4 months training 2-3x per week throughout that time until I could spread my wings and begin doing this on my own. That’s what she wanted for me, that’s what I did, and that’s what I expect from my clients. To Learn, and spread their wings.
"Your time is valuable. Your efforts are valuable. Just find a trainer that will apply you to your potential and place value on you as you are putting on them. That’s all."
I’m going to get into something a little deeper and literally throw some figures and what you actually get out of it, at you. Ready?
So I first began training with a personal trainer as I explained above the amount that I spent. I don’t remember the exact figure but I believe it was $320 for 8 sessions. I got 30 minute sessions. No meal plan for me to follow. I remember asking my husband and he said “Go for it” without hesitation. At this point in my life I just wanted to learn exercises, and burn off all the beer I drank that summer lol. I didn’t know what else there was. But everything this trainer of mine told me, workouts, how to make healthier choices… I absorbed it and applied it. I didn’t get my hand held through my learning stages. But I took the VALUE from what I was investing into. Down to the last penny.
Alright here’s another for you. After I became certified and began working at LA Fitness. I really didn’t figure any better as far as what my clients were paying for these training sessions. All I knew is that for $40+ per session I better give them the best damn 30 minutes of their life, and I even gave them a menu and meal plan to follow. I didn’t have to- it wasn’t in their contract that they get this. But I cared, so I did. The problem with this place lied with finding MY value and MY worth. These clients were paying an arm and a leg to a greedy business that didn’t care about them past them handing their cash over to sign up for training so they can collect a bonus and here the trainers are doing the work, giving our clients the actual value to their health and goals, and getting paid $7.50 of it. YEP.
Okay, so aside from you now knowing what the going rates are for these services and what you could potentially get out of them. Your time is valuable. Your efforts are valuable. Just find a trainer that will apply you to your potential and place value on you as you are putting on them. That’s all.
I’m going to conclude this with taking it back to the top.
“You think that’s a little steep?”
Hair appointments. How much do you spend in the chair for an hour/ hour and a half for this service?
Nail appointments. How much do you spend in the chair for an hour/ hour and a half for this service?
I easily drop an amount to my hair dresser that estimates a $35-$40/ hour paycheck for her. KUDOS. That’s not me complaining. Because I find value in everything I put my money down on. My ongoing mentality is if I’m willing to drop x-amount of dollars on something “materialistic” (because truthfully I can just go buy me some box dye”) than I can drop x-amount of dollars that will place value on my health goals.
Nice chattin’ with you! Until Next time!
